Review: Skin Food Black Sugar Cleansing Oil

 Description (from http://eng.theskinfood.com/):
The mineral-rich Brazilian black sugar in the cleansing oil leaves your skin moist after washing and perfectly removes the dense make-up.

How to Apply (from http://eng.theskinfood.com/):
Take a moderate amount of it on a dry hand and gently remove the make up. Then complete the cleansing by washing the face with cleansing foam.

My Thoughts:
I received this cleansing oil sample pack from hying of Korean Things, a site that sells a great variety of Korean beauty products online and they provide shipping to worldwide as well.
Back to the cleansing oil, this sample pack is enough for 3-4 uses on me.  I use it like any other cleansing oil, I apply and spread it evenly on my dry face, massage in, add a certain amount of water to emulsify it then rinse it off.
The first thing that I noticed when I first opened this sample pack was the scent, it has a citrus-y scent, something that I didn't expect. Don't get me wrong, I love citrus-y scent, but I never thought that black sugar will have this kind of scent or maybe it's just a synthetic fragrance.
I really like the texture, it has a thin and runny consistency so it's pretty easy to spread and massage in.
As for the cleansing power, for me it's pretty decent. It cleanses my face makeup pretty well but for waterproof mascara and eyeliner, it takes a bit more effort. But since I always use separate eye makeup remover, it doesn't really bother me.
After rinsing it off, I still feel that it leaves a little bit of residue on my skin so I still need to use a facial cleanser after using this cleansing oil which I don't mind since I always do double cleansing to make sure everything's off.
Sadly, I can't find the ingredient list for this cleansing oil on the sample pack nor on the official Skin Food site so I'm not sure what the ingredients are, of course beside the black sugar. Luckily though, it doesn't break me out :).
Overall, It's a good cleansing oil that's worth trying especially if you like citrus-y scent.

Here's the texture of the cleansing oil:
Before emulsifying.

After emulsifying.

Pros:
- Pleasant citrus-y scent
- Cleanses face makeup pretty well
- Thin consistency for easy application
- No breakout

Cons:
- a bit hard to remove waterproof eye makeup
- leave a little bit of residue

Rating: 3.5/5
Repurchase: Probably yes
(Since I love trying new products, I'll try other products before deciding to settle on this product :D)

Disclaimer: The product sample was sent to me for review purposes. I am not affiliated with the company. This is my honest opinion, product that works on me doesn't mean it works on you and vice versa.

I've never tried this before. It sounds so interesting with the black sugar. :)

Black sugar made me think of burnt sugar--I love the smell and taste of that. Now I'm hungry. Make-up isn't supposed to do that, is it??? =)

This is interesting. The texture looks nice and creamy compared to some of the other oil cleansers out there. Thanks for the review.

I would've never expected black sugar to smell citrus-y either. I do however like the cute way they packaged this. ;)

awww... too bad it can't remove eyemakeup. it's really hard to find something that can really clean w/o leaving any makeup behind.

thanks for this great review dina! :3

Thanks for the review, I have the same thoughts about it's hard to remove eye makeup :) I don't really see the point of makeup remover oil cos you'll have to wash face after anyway :)

I have been on a search for cleasing oils recently, since i feel like they thoroughly remove all my face makeup~ have you tried the DHC one before? I kind of want to get that one since its cheaper than the other ones.
