Review: Skin Food Black Sugar Cleansing Oil

 Description (from http://eng.theskinfood.com/):
The mineral-rich Brazilian black sugar in the cleansing oil leaves your skin moist after washing and perfectly removes the dense make-up.

How to Apply (from http://eng.theskinfood.com/):
Take a moderate amount of it on a dry hand and gently remove the make up. Then complete the cleansing by washing the face with cleansing foam.

My Thoughts:
I received this cleansing oil sample pack from hying of Korean Things, a site that sells a great variety of Korean beauty products online and they provide shipping to worldwide as well.
Back to the cleansing oil, this sample pack is enough for 3-4 uses on me.  I use it like any other cleansing oil, I apply and spread it evenly on my dry face, massage in, add a certain amount of water to emulsify it then rinse it off.
The first thing that I noticed when I first opened this sample pack was the scent, it has a citrus-y scent, something that I didn't expect. Don't get me wrong, I love citrus-y scent, but I never thought that black sugar will have this kind of scent or maybe it's just a synthetic fragrance.
I really like the texture, it has a thin and runny consistency so it's pretty easy to spread and massage in.
As for the cleansing power, for me it's pretty decent. It cleanses my face makeup pretty well but for waterproof mascara and eyeliner, it takes a bit more effort. But since I always use separate eye makeup remover, it doesn't really bother me.
After rinsing it off, I still feel that it leaves a little bit of residue on my skin so I still need to use a facial cleanser after using this cleansing oil which I don't mind since I always do double cleansing to make sure everything's off.
Sadly, I can't find the ingredient list for this cleansing oil on the sample pack nor on the official Skin Food site so I'm not sure what the ingredients are, of course beside the black sugar. Luckily though, it doesn't break me out :).
Overall, It's a good cleansing oil that's worth trying especially if you like citrus-y scent.

Here's the texture of the cleansing oil:
Before emulsifying.

After emulsifying.

Pros:
- Pleasant citrus-y scent
- Cleanses face makeup pretty well
- Thin consistency for easy application
- No breakout

Cons:
- a bit hard to remove waterproof eye makeup
- leave a little bit of residue

Rating: 3.5/5
Repurchase: Probably yes
(Since I love trying new products, I'll try other products before deciding to settle on this product :D)

Finished Products in August 2010

Skin Food Coffee Body Scrub
First thing first, this body scrub smells exactly like coffee! I almost wanted to taste it everytime I used it :D. I feel that it made my skin really smooth afterward and it didn't dry out my skin. But for this small tub of scrub, it can be quite expensive if you buy it outside Korea.

Etude House Lip & Eye Remover
I've been using this for almost a year and feel really glad that I've finally finished it. It's a pretty good eye makeup remover but it took quite an effort to remove some waterproof makeups. Check out my review on this remover here.

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm
Finally I've finished this lipbalm! It took me months to go through this lipbalm. It's from Nic way back on last year. It feels and smells minty which I really love and I believe this lipbalm has made my lips chapped free, so thank you Nic! :D.

I'm going to Malaysia today! So as expected, I'll be offline for a few days. But I'll come back soon after my trip :D. Till next time!

Review: The Face Shop Herb Day Cleansing Emulsion - Green Tea

I can't believe it's already September now, time flies really fast. But I'm excited for this month as last month was uneventful for me :D.
So, I'll start this month post with a review! I have been using this cleansing emulsion since few months ago and I'm on half way finishing it so I think it's time to do a review about it.

Descriptions & Ingredients:

Price: I don't remember how much it was when I bought it but I think it's around US$15

My Thought:
Of course the first thing that drew me to buy this cleanser is the Green Tea. I love green tea so much that everything with these two words will attract me :D. I'm using this as a face makeup remover. I usually press one or two pumps and apply it to the whole face, massage it then wipe it off with cotton pads. I think it cleanses my makeup well (I use separate makeup remover for eye) but after I wipe it off with cotton pads, I still need to cleanse my face with a facial cleanser cause it leaves a slightly greasy film on my skin. So it might be a little inconvenient as we have to double cleanse. The packaging is definitely a plus, I love everything that comes with a pump cause it's more hygienic and we can control the amount of the product that we want.
In the past, I've never paid attention to the ingredient list of the product that I bought. But recently since I've finally understood about the importance of ingredients, I looked at the ingredient list of this cleansing emulsion and I was surprised that it has mineral oil as the second ingredient. I probably wouldn't buy it if I saw that in the first place. Although it doesn't break me out but mineral oil is a very comedogenic ingredient.
Just like the rest of The Face Shop products that I've tried, it has really nice scent, and this one, of course, has green tea scent :D. As for the texture, it has tiny green bits in it and they dissolve right after you massage them like shown in pic below.

Pros:
- Removes makeup well
- Nice scent
- Hygienic packaging
- No breakout

Cons:
- Needs double cleanse
- Contains mineral oil

Rating: 2.5/5
Repurchase: No, although it has more pros than the cons but the words mineral oil definitely a no for me.

Short Visit to Singapore

I've been away from net connection for a few days since last Sunday (my previous post was scheduled, by the way) as I had a short visit to Singapore to settle some stuffs. I really hate being away from net connection, but I could only get online in Singapore by using public wireless connection with my phone. That doesn't help though, cause by the time I'm at outside, I'll be busy doing stuffs or shopping :D and there won't be enough time to use the connection. Okay, enough rambling, as you might guess, I include some food pics in this post :D. Here are the food that I had for the past few days:

Bibimbap

Laksa

Baked meatballs

Curry chicken baked rice

Lasagna

Dimsum

I've been good for not spending so much on beauty stuffs like I used to, but I did manage to get some stuffs that I've been wanting in Singapore, all of them are eye related products.

Mandom Cleansing Express Eye Makeup Remover
My current eye makeup remover is almost finished so I get this eye makeup remover to try after reading the review from Rouge Deluxe. I haven't tried it yet, will update once I do.

KissMe Heroine Make Mascara Remover
Yes, another remover :D. I get this one because of Yumeko's review, It sounds great for hard-to-remove mascara. Haven't tried it yet though.

Shiseido Mascara Base
I've been wanting this since forever! I can't wait to try it to see how it works on my short and straight lashes :).

Till next time!

Review: Etude House Lip & Eye Remover

Description (from http://www.etudehouse.com/eng/main.jsp):
Specially pH balanced formula
Excellent at removing long lasting makeup
Oil & alcohol free

Concept: Lip & Eye Makeup Removal in One Quick & Easy Step

My thought:
i've been using this to remove my eyes and lips makeup all the while. of course we have to shake it first before using it. and i think it's pretty good on removing waterproof mascara but not so much on waterproof eyeliner. i have to rub a few times till all the makeups removed. as it claims, it's not oily and doesn't sting at all unlike my previous eye makeup remover. and what i like about this product is the light scent it has. overall, this is a quite good product.

Rating: 3.5/5
Repurchase: Yes, till i've found a better remover

Meet Up with Verina

two days ago i had a meet up with Verina, she's really cute in person! :D Verina is going to study at Singapore this month so before she's leaving, we decided to do a meet up. actually Onic was going to join us too but her mother wasn't feeling well and she had to take care of her. i'm sure we're going to meet another time, Onic :)

on that day, we had lunch at American Grill and yeah, like what Verina had said, we didn't take picture of the foods till she realized it but at that time we'd almost finished it LOL.

we talked a lot and shopped around, well, i was being good that day for not buying anything. because it was end of the month and i have to wait until next month, which is this month to buy anything. i have listed a few stuffs to buy for this holiday month and i can't wait for it! :D

we had onion ring and mashed potato at Popeyes for dinner (i think?). Verina said the mashed potato looked like a poop, LOL. but it tasted really good. we were talking and talking till we realized it was really late and decided to go home. we hanged out for 8 hour! i didn't expect it would be that long but it was really fun. thanks for the day, Verina! :)

some goodies from her:
a very cute pouch and a charm with my initial (how thoughtful she is!), a pair of earrings and Etude Dear Darling Tint

Thanks for reading! :)

Bio-essence Deep Cleansing Milk

As I’ve said on my previous post currently I’m back in my hometown.. and the internet connection at here is very limited so I can’t be online all the time, just a few for checking.. so please pardon me for the lack of update on this blog =)

And now I want to share a very funny thing about my brother.. this Bio-essence Deep Cleansing Milk was my brother’s.. Yap, I was shock too when I found out my brother used this, cause when I saw this cleansing milk, I thought it was my Mum’s... how the heck did my brother have to use a cleansing milk? Did he use makeup? LOL… then he told me when he purchased this, he thought this cleansing milk is for cleanser, and when he tried to use this as a normal cleanser, he thought that the texture is more suitable for moisturizing.. so from that on, he used this as a moisturizer plus sunscreen for 1 year!!! I was even more shock!! Then I told him this one is for removing makeup residues, didn’t he read the description? He said he didn’t… haha… but he claimed after using this as a moisturizer, his skin felt smoother and recommended me to use this too… LOL…

Now this Bio-essence Deep Cleansing Milk belongs to me, he gave me this right after I told him about removing makeup, cause he feels weird for using this while he knows the main function of this product… haha…

I’ve used this for a few times, I like the texture and I think it’s quite good for removing makeup… very gentle and doesn’t sting at all… but I still looking for my HG makeup remover, and will have to try another product…

P.S.: I have my brother permission to blog about this =)
