Swatch: Essence & The Face Shop Nail Polish

I got this Essence nail polish from the lovely miss Witoxicity (Thanks you!). When I first got this nail polish, I immediately thought of my The Face Shop nail polish which the color looks similar to this Essence one. But when I got them side by side, they don't look really similar, Essence nail polish looks more to burgundy while The Face Shop nail polish looks more to mauve (Sorry! I'm terrible at describing colors).

pinky: Essence 55 Spot On - one coat
ring: Essence 55 Spot On - two coats
middle: The Face Shop BR805 - one coat
index: The Face Shop BR805 - two coats
thumb: The Face Shop BR805 - three coats

From the pictures above you can see how different they are. Essence nail polish is very opaque while The Face Shop nail polish is really sheer. I need to take three coats of The Face Shop nail polish to reach that opacity. And Essence nail polish only needs one coat but I prefer two coats for a more even application.

The staying power of this nail polish is just mediocre, it chips in just two or three days upon application. And it's very streaky, I was having hard time to get a smooth coat from this nail polish. But it's a really lovely shade, it's very wearable in my opinion.

The Face Shop BR805
The staying power is no better than Essence but I like that with thin application, it dries so much faster than Essence nail polish and it's not as streaky.

    I love the purplish colors! the face shop one is more natural :D pitty abt the staying power :(

    I love the gradation method! Middle one coat to the thumb with three coats haha!

    BR805 is a lovely colour - I shall stalk my nearest TFS branch soon!

    I really like both of them, but if I had to pick I'd choose The Face Shop one. Love these shades of purple :)

    I like your nails in picture #4, but of course I know nothing about polish. Like you, I am terrible at describing colors. I joked to someone the other day that I'm bad with colors because I only had 5 1/2 (from the box of 8) crayola crayons when I was a kid--so I don't know about the fancy colors in the box of 64. =)

    Oh! Those The Face Shop polishes looks very sheer. 3 coats kindda a lot...

    my fav has got to be FaCESHOp nailpolish on u. My mom has a truckload of them at home too and her latest fav is Etude House Pastel Shades nail polishes :)

    Ooh I can see that the Essence one is really sheer! I'm not sure which color I like better thought :) They're both pretty.. The essence reminds me of wild berries though!

    i'm loving the one from The Face Shop! it reminded me of the pastel purple which i have.

    Is Face Shop available in your country?? THey have pulled out from HK a few years ago.

    am really liking Canmake stuff recently, they keep coming out with good stuff (e.g. lipglosses with SPF), cream blush etc!

    i like the shade of face shop but too bad it requires 3 coats! thanks for the swatches! I'll have to try and order it online cuz they closed all TFS in canada lol
